COVID-19 ASSISTANCE PLAN

The South Atlantic Conference recognizes the financial strain that work restrictions have placed on many members throughout the conference as a result of COVID-19 shelter-in-place recommendations.  In an effort to provide financial assistance to those most in need, the South Atlantic Conference has created the COVID-19 Relief Fund provide financial assistance to help those who need it most at this critical time.

To be eligible to participate, you must be an active member of one of the 173 churches within the South Atlantic Conference. This relief fund is intended to assist church members who can demonstrate that, as a direct result of COVID-19, they have experienced a loss of income from the following:
  1. Job loss
  2. Job furlough
  3. Reduced work hours

To receive assistance, you must acquire an application which you can get from the local Adventist church where you are a member.  After you have completed the brief application, submit it to the designated individual(s) at the church, along with the required supporting documentation.

The local church will receive the application along with supporting documentation and through its’ board, benevolence committee or other properly appointed body shall determine who will receive assistance and the amount to be granted.  The local church pastor, church clerk and church treasurer will verify membership and financial hardship of applications submitted to the church.

Approved assistance shall be paid by the church to the vendor or organization on behalf of the member.  The COVID-19 Assistance Plan is intended to give financial assistance for mortgage, rent, utilities (gas, water, electric), and academic scholarships for early childhood centers, K-12 schools or undergraduate studies.

The church must produce the application along with documentation (application, receipts, a copy of the check which was written, etc.) and submit documentation to the South Atlantic Conference to receive reimbursement.
The maximum amount given will be $500.00 per person, per household.   The local church pastor, church clerk and church treasurer will verify membership and financial hardship of applications from the church.
There are two different assistance plans available, COVID-19 Assistance Plan and the Scholarship Grant. You may apply for both grants; however, if approved, you will only receive funding from one plan.  Please specify which is most needed.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COVID-19 ASSISTANCE PLAN:
  • Demonstrate a financial need by submitting documentation that you have been furloughed, released from your job or have had your hours reduced
